Description
図2を用いて、本発明の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法の第1の実施形態について説明する。図2は、図1のA−A’を通り、基板1に垂直な位置で切断した場合の各工程での切断面を表わす図である。以降の説明では、1つの液体吐出ヘッド(1つのチップ)単位を図示して説明を行うが、基板1として6〜12インチのウェハを使用して、複数の液体吐出ヘッドを1枚のウェハ上で製造して、最後に切り分けることで1つの液体吐出ヘッドを得ることもできる。
図3を参照して本発明の第2の実施形態について説明する。図3は、各工程での切断面を示す切断面図である。なお、図3は図2と同様の位置での断面図である。
吐出口形成部材上には撥液処理がされており、壁部材上には撥液処理がされていない液体吐出ヘッドを製造することができる。
図2を用いて、実施例1を説明する。まず、第1の層7が設けられた基板1(6インチウェハ)を用意した(図2(a))。第1の層7は、ポジ型感光性樹脂であるODUR−1010(東京応化工業製)をスピンコート法により塗布した後、120℃で乾燥して形成した。形成後の第1の層7の厚さの平均値は7μmで、基板1(6インチウェハ)内での第1の層7の厚さの標準偏差は0.1μm以下であった(いずれも6インチウェハ内の350箇所で測定)。
実施例1の第2の層を設ける工程の後、具体的には図2(c)の工程の次に、第2の層10の表面に撥液用材料を付与した。撥液用材料としては、グリシジルプロピルトリエトキシシラン28グラム(0.1モル)、メチルトリエトキシシラン18グラム(0.1モル)、トリデカフルオロ−1,1,2,2−テトラヒドロオクチルトリエトキシシラン6.6グラム(0.013モル)、水17.3グラムおよびエタノール37gを室温で撹拌し、続いて24時間還流することによって得た材料を用いた。これ以外は、実施例1と同様にして、液体吐出ヘッドを製造した。
図5を用いて、比較例の液体吐出ヘッドの作成方法について説明する。図5は、比較例の液体吐出ヘッドを作成する各工程での断面を表している。
上述の通り、実施例1、2の液体吐出ヘッドの距離Dの標準偏差と、比較例1に係る液体吐出ヘッドの距離hの標準偏差とでは、大きく差があることが分かる。
Claims (11)
- 液体を吐出する吐出口に連通する流路を有する液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法において、
第1の層を有する基板を用意する工程と、
前記第1の層から、前記流路を形成するための流路の型と、前記型の外側に間隙を介して位置する部材とを形成する工程と、
前記間隙を充填し、かつ前記型と前記型の外側に間隙を介して位置する部材と被覆するように、第2の層を設ける工程と、
前記第2の層から、吐出口を形成するための吐出口形成部材を形成する工程と、
前記型の外側に間隙を介して位置する部材を除去する工程と、
前記吐出口形成部材を被覆するように第3の層を設ける工程と、
前記第3の層から前記吐出口形成部材の外側に少なくとも一部は間隙を介して位置する壁部材を形成する工程と、
をこの順に有することを特徴とする液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記第1の層がポジ型感光性樹脂を含有する請求項1に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記第2の層がネガ型感光性樹脂を含有する請求項1または2に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記第3の層がネガ型感光性樹脂を含有する請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記基板の表面と平行な断面において、前記部材の面積は前記型の面積よりも大きい請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記基板の表面と平行な断面において、前記部材の面積は前記型の面積の3倍以上、100倍以下である請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記型と前記部材との間の間隙の幅が、10μm以上50μm以下である請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記吐出口形成部材と前記壁部材との間の間隙の幅が、吐出口の直径以上、吐出口の直径の5倍以下である請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記第2の層を設ける工程の後に、
前記第2の層の表面に撥液用材料を付与する請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記基板と前記壁部材との間には、電気回路部が形成されている請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記壁部材は、全ての領域で前記吐出口形成部材と間隙を介して設けられている請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出ヘッドの製造方法。
