Description
水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液を、HLBが6以上の界面活性剤及び炭化水素分散媒を含む油性液中に懸濁させて懸濁液を調製し、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む重合工程を備え、
前記水性液及び前記炭化水素分散媒の合計の体積に対する、1分間あたりに供給される前記不活性ガスの体積の比率で表されるガス供給割合が0.1〜3.0である、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液を、HLBが6以上の界面活性剤及び炭化水素分散媒を含む油性液中に懸濁させて懸濁液を調製し、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む第1回目の重合工程と、
前記第1回目の重合工程の後、水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含み、すでに前記懸濁液中に導入された前記水性液とは別の追加の水性液を重合後の反応混合物に加えてこれを懸濁させてから、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを1回又は2回以上行う、第2回目以降の重合工程と、を備え、
第n回目(nは1以上の整数である。)の前記重合工程において前記懸濁液中に導入される前記水性液と前記炭化水素分散媒との合計の体積に対する、1分間あたりに供給される前記不活性ガスの比率で表される、当該第n回目の重合工程におけるガス供給割合が0.1〜3.0である、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
前記界面活性剤が、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、ポリグリセリン脂肪酸エステル及びショ糖脂肪酸エステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、項1又は2に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体が、アクリル酸及びその塩、メタクリル酸及びその塩、並びにアクリルアミドからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、項1〜3のいずれかに記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
前記炭化水素分散媒が、炭素数6〜8の脂肪族炭化水素及び炭素数6〜8の脂環族炭化水素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、項1〜4のいずれかに記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び撹拌機を装着した内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、「丸底フラスコ」という。)を準備した。攪拌機として、翼径50mmの2段の4枚傾斜パドル翼を有し、フッ素樹脂で表面がコートされた撹拌翼を有する装置を用いた。この丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油株式会社製、商品名:ノニオンLP−20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、70℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn−ヘプタンに溶解した。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び撹拌機を装着した内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、「丸底フラスコ」という。)を準備した。攪拌機として、翼径50mmの2段の4枚傾斜パドル翼を有し、フッ素樹脂で表面がコートされた撹拌翼を有する装置を用いた。この丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油株式会社製、商品名:ノニオンLP−20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、75℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn−ヘプタンに溶解した。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び撹拌機を装着した内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、「丸底フラスコ」という。)を準備した。攪拌機として、翼径50mmの2段の4枚傾斜パドル翼を有し、フッ素樹脂で表面がコートされた撹拌翼を有する装置を用いた。この丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン530mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油株式会社製、商品名:ノニオンLP−20R;HLB8.6)1.65gを添加し、72℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn−ヘプタンに溶解した。
流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び撹拌機を装着した内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、「丸底フラスコ」という。)を準備した。攪拌機として、翼径50mmの2段の4枚傾斜パドル翼を有し、フッ素樹脂で表面がコートされた撹拌翼を有する装置を用いた。この丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油社製、商品名:ノニオンLP−20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、45℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn−ヘプタンに溶解した。
流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び撹拌機を装着した内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、「丸底フラスコ」という。)を準備した。攪拌機として、翼径50mmの2段の4枚傾斜パドル翼を有し、フッ素樹脂で表面がコートされた撹拌翼を有する装置を用いた。この丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油社製、商品名:ノニオンLP−20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、75℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn−ヘプタンに溶解した。
実施例、参考例および比較例で得られた吸水性樹脂粒子について、以下の評価を行った。各重合工程におけるガス供給割合とともに評価結果を表2に示す。
(a)検量線の作成
実施例、参考例及び比較例で使用した炭化水素分散媒、ジメチルホルムアミド(DMF)、25質量%リン酸水溶液を、栓のできるガラス容器内に用意した。これらは測定中の揮発による誤差を抑えるため、必要に応じて冷却して用いた。
DMFと25質量%リン酸水溶液を用意した。内容積20mLのバイアル瓶に、実施例、参考例及び比較例で得られた吸水性樹脂粒子0.10gをそれぞれ精秤した。このバイアル瓶に、DMFを4mL、25質量%リン酸水溶液5mLを加えた。セプタムゴムとアルミキャップを用いてバイアル瓶を速やかに密栓し、バイアル瓶を1分間振とうした。バイアル瓶を振とうしながら、110℃で2時間加温した後、1mLの気相部をガスクロマトグラフに注入し、クロマトグラムを得た。

吸水性樹脂粒子の膨潤時の炭化水素分散媒由来の臭気を次の方法にて評価した。内容積140mLの蓋付ガラス瓶(マヨネーズ瓶)に、25℃の0.9質量%塩化ナトリウム水溶液(生理食塩水)20.0gを加え、長さ3cmの回転子を入れて攪拌した。吸水性樹脂粒子2.0gを蓋付ガラス瓶に入れて密閉した。当該ガラス瓶中の炭化水素分散媒由来の臭気を、表1に示す評価基準に準じて、5名の分析者が判定し、その平均値を臭気の評価結果とした。
生理食塩水500gと吸水性樹脂粒子2.0gとの混合液を、室温で60分間攪拌した。質量Wa(g)を有する、目開き75μmのJIS Z 8801−1標準篩を用いて、上記混合液をろ過した。篩を水平に対して約30度の傾斜角となるように傾けた状態で、ろ物を篩上で30分間放置した。吸水した吸水性樹脂粒子と篩の質量の合計Wb(g)を測定し、以下の式により、吸水量を求めた。
生理食塩水の吸水量=(Wb−Wa)/2.0
吸水速度の測定は、25℃±1℃に調節された室内で行われた。恒温水槽にて25±0.2℃の温度に調整した生理食塩水50±0.1gをマグネチックスターラーバー(8mmφ×30mmのリング無し)で攪拌して、回転数600rpmで渦を発生させた。吸水性樹脂粒子2.0±0.002gを、上記生理食塩水中に一度に添加し、吸水性樹脂粒子の添加後から液面の渦が収束する時点までの時間(秒)を測定し、当該時間を吸水性樹脂粒子の吸水速度とした。
吸水性樹脂粒子100gに、滑剤として非晶質シリカ(デグサジャパン株式会社製、商品名:Sipernat 200)0.5gを混合した。上記吸水性樹脂粒子を、JIS Z 8801−1標準篩の目開き250μmの篩に通過させ、全量に対して篩上に残る量が50質量%以上の場合には、下記(A)の篩の組み合わせを、50質量%未満の場合には、下記(B)の篩の組み合わせを用いて中位粒子径を測定した。
(A)JIS標準篩を上から、目開き850μmの篩、目開き600μmの篩、目開き500μmの篩、目開き425μmの篩、目開き300μmの篩、目開き250μmの篩、目開き150μmの篩及び受け皿の順に組み合わせた。
(B)JIS標準篩を上から、目開き425μmの篩、目開き250μmの篩、目開き180μmの篩、目開き150μmの篩、目開き106μmの篩、目開き75μmの篩、目開き45μmの篩及び受け皿の順に組み合わせた。
吸水性樹脂粒子の粉体ハンドリング性は、5名の分析者により、 基準に従って目視により評価された。3名以上の分析者が選択した評価を、その吸水性樹脂粒子の粉体ハンドリング性とした。
良好:粉立ちが少ない。流動性が適度にあり、計量及び清掃等の操作が容易。
不良:粉立ちが多い。流動性が低いので、計量及び清掃等の操作が難しい。
Claims (5)
- 水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液を、HLBが6以上の界面活性剤及び炭化水素分散媒を含む油性液中に懸濁させて懸濁液を調製し、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む重合工程を備え、
前記水性液及び前記炭化水素分散媒の合計の体積に対する、1分間あたりに供給される前記不活性ガスの体積の比率で表されるガス供給割合が0.46〜3.0である、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。 - 水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液を、HLBが6以上の界面活性剤及び炭化水素分散媒を含む油性液中に懸濁させて懸濁液を調製し、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む第1回目の重合工程と、
前記第1回目の重合工程の後、水及び該水に溶解している水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含み、すでに前記懸濁液中に導入された前記水性液とは別の追加の水性液を重合後の反応混合物に加えてこれを懸濁させてから、前記懸濁液中に不活性ガスを供給しながら前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを1回又は2回以上行う、第2回目以降の重合工程と、を備え、
第n回目(nは1以上の整数である。)の前記重合工程において前記懸濁液中に導入される前記水性液と前記炭化水素分散媒との合計の体積に対する、1分間あたりに供給される前記不活性ガスの比率で表される、当該第n回目の重合工程におけるガス供給割合が0.46〜3.0である、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。 - 前記界面活性剤が、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、ポリグリセリン脂肪酸エステル及びショ糖脂肪酸エステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
- 前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体が、アクリル酸及びその塩、メタクリル酸及びその塩、並びにアクリルアミドからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
- 前記炭化水素分散媒が、炭素数6〜8の脂肪族炭化水素及び炭素数6〜8の脂環族炭化水素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
