端子部13は、周辺領域82に設けられる。端子部13は、表示電極12と直接または間接的に電気的に接続される。
表示層30は、表示電極12と第2基板部20との間に設けられる。
対向電極22は、例えば、第2基板部20及び第1基板部10の少なくともいずれかに設けられる。表示電極12及び対向電極22は、櫛歯状の形状を有していても良い。

- 表示領域と、前記表示領域の外側の周辺領域と、を有する第1主面を有する第1基板と、
前記表示領域に設けられた表示電極と、
前記周辺領域に設けられ、前記表示電極と直接または間接的に電気的に接続された端子部と、
前記端子部の少なくとも一部を露出しつつ前記表示電極を覆い、前記表示領域及び前記周辺領域の上に設けられ、ポリシロキサンを含む第1絶縁層と、
を含む第1基板部と、
前記第1主面と対向する第2主面を有する第2基板と、
前記第2主面上に設けられ、ポリシロキサンを含む第2絶縁層と、
を含む第2基板部と、
前記第1基板部と前記第2基板部との間で前記第1絶縁層と前記第2絶縁層と接し、前記表示領域を囲むように前記周辺領域に設けられたシール部と、
前記シール部によって囲まれた前記第1基板部と前記第2基板部との間に設けられた表示層と、

前記第2基板部の前記第2主面上であって、前記シール部の外縁に内縁が対向し、前記第2基板上で前記第1主面方向に突出して前記第1間隔制御部と対向するとともに、前記シール部と対向する内縁及び突出した先端部分とを前記第2主面上に形成される前記第2絶縁層によって連続して覆われ、両前記先端部分上の前記第1絶縁層と前記第2絶縁層同士を当接させることにより、前記第1基板部と前記第2基板部との間の間隔を制御する第2間隔制御部をさらに含み、
前記第1及び第2間隔制御部の外縁と、前記第1及び第2基板の外縁と、前記第1及び第2間隔制御部先端上の前記第1及び第2絶縁層の外縁とは、夫々前記第1及び第2主面の垂直面上で同一平面を形成していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1基板部は、前記第1基板と前記表示電極との間に設けられた層間絶縁膜をさらに含み、
前記第2基板部は、前記第2基板と前記第2絶縁層との間に設けられたオーバーコート層をさらに含み、
前記層間絶縁膜及び前記オーバーコート層は、前記シール部の下まで延長配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記間隔制御部の内縁と前記シール部の外縁とは、前記絶縁層を介して密着されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の表示装置。
- 前記表示層は、液晶層を含み、
前記第1絶縁層及び前記第2絶縁層は、有機基を含むポリシロキサンを含み、前記液晶層の液晶を配向させることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の表示装置。
