(b)場合によっては、工程(a)により得られた前記層化されたガラスフレークをか焼する工程。
200gのガラスフレーク(Glassflakes Ltd.Forster Street Leeds LS10 1PW、United Kingdom製)(表Aにおいて特定されるような組成を有し、平均粒子厚みが1μm、粒子直径が50〜150μmの範囲、d50が88μm)を、2Lの脱イオン水の中に分散させ、その懸濁液を撹拌下で80℃にまで加熱した。次いで、希塩酸を用いてそのpHを1.9に調節し、60mLの希塩酸中3gのSnCl4・5H2Oの酸性溶液をその懸濁液に60分以内で添加した。それと同時に、水酸化ナトリウムの溶液(水中10%w/w)を計量注入して、pHを1.9の一定に維持した。スズ化合物を添加した後、反応混合物を15分間撹拌して、完全に沈殿させた。次いで、希塩酸を用いてそのpHを1.6まで下げ、TiCl4の水溶液(400gTiCl4/L)を0.33mL/分で懸濁液に添加した。水酸化ナトリウム(水中10%w/w)を同時注入して、pH値を1.6の一定に維持した。4時間後に、鮮やかな銀の色調が得られた。TiCl4溶液の添加を停止し、反応混合物をさらに15分間撹拌した。濾過により固形分を分離してから、脱イオン水を用いてそのフィルターケーキを洗浄し、650℃で30分間かけてか焼した。銀白色の反射色を有する極めて鮮やかな真珠光沢顔料が得られる。X線粉末回折分析によれば、そのTiO2の結晶変態は純粋なルチルである。
表Bにおいて特定されるような組成を有し、50〜150μmの同じ粒子サイズおよびd50が87μmのECRガラス組成物のガラスフレークを使用して、実施例1と同じ手順を繰り返した。
実施例1と類似であるが、ただし、TiCl4溶液を0.33mL/分で23時間かけて添加すると、強い赤色の干渉色を有する真珠光沢顔料が得られた。
市販の真珠光沢顔料:Reflecks Sparkling Red(BASF Catalysts)。
市販の真珠光沢顔料:Miraval 5422 Magic Red(MERCK)。
SnO2の沈殿およびTiO2の沈殿の初期段階を分析した。この目的のために、実施例1を実質的に繰り返したが、ただしコーティングされたガラスフレークの少量のサンプルを、反応混合物から所定の反応時間のところで取り出した(表1)。TiO2を用いたコーティングは、2時間のところで最終的に停止した。
比較例2を基材として比較例2のECRガラスのガラスフレークを使用して実質的に繰り返したが、ここで、実施例6におけるのと同じ反応時間にサンプルを取り出した。これらのサンプルを乾燥させてから、SEMにより分析した。
a 3点試験法
比較例8:
市販の化粧料用Firemist Blue(BASF Catalysts製の真珠光沢顔料)。
2種類の異なった顔料の3つのコード付きサンプルをパネリストの前腕に塗布した。パネリストの腕を箱の中に入れさせて、パネリストが腕を見ることができないようにした。2つのサンプルは同一であり、1つのサンプルが別のものである。パネリストにサンプルを触らせて、次の問いに答えてもらった:「どの2つが同じだと思いますか?」。
20人のパネリストの中の11人が正解であった。このことは、実施例1のサンプルと比較例8のサンプルが、有意に異なっていることを示している(α=0.05の有意水準)。
実施例1および比較例2の顔料を用いて、皮膚感触性に関するパネル試験を実施した。
2つのコード付きサンプルをパネリストの前腕に塗布した。パネリストの腕を箱の中に入れさせて、パネリストが腕を見ることができないようにした。パネリストにサンプルを触らせて、その2つのサンプルを「滑らかさ」のパラメータについて比較してもらい、それを0(滑らか)から10(粗い)の間でランク付けさせた。20人のパネリストに評価させた。
サンプルのランク付けの平均値を統計学的に比較してみると、2つのサンプルは、滑らかさの点で有意に異なる皮膚感触性を有していることを示している(α=0.05の有意水準)。
Claims (30)
- コーティングを有するガラスフレークを基材として含む効果顔料であって、前記コーティングは、少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の高屈折率物質(前記物質は少なくとも1.8の屈折率を有する)、および/または少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の半透明の金属質物質を含み、
前記ガラスフレークが、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、以下の組成:
65〜75重量%の酸化ケイ素
2〜9重量%の酸化アルミニウム
0.0〜5重量%の酸化カルシウム
5〜12重量%の酸化ナトリウム
8〜15重量%の酸化ホウ素
0.1〜5重量%の酸化チタン
0.0〜5重量%の酸化ジルコニウム
を有することを特徴とする、効果顔料。 - 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、0.5〜2.5重量%の範囲の酸化チタンの含量を含む、請求項1に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、67〜73重量%の酸化ケイ素の含量を含む、請求項1または2に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、4〜7重量%の酸化アルミニウムの含量を含む、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、0.5〜2.5重量%の酸化カルシウムの含量を含む、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、8.5〜14重量%の酸化ホウ素の含量を含む、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、0.05〜3重量%の範囲の酸化ジルコニウムの含量をさらに含む、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、前記ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、6〜11重量%のNa2Oの含量を含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラス組成物が、以下のさらなる成分:
それぞれ0〜6重量%の酸化カリウムおよび/または酸化リチウム、および/または、0〜6重量%の酸化マグネシウムを含む、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。 - 前記ガラス組成物が、800℃未満の軟化点を有する、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記効果顔料が、少なくとも1層の低屈折率物質および少なくとも1層の高屈折率物質および/または半透明の金属質物質を含む、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の高屈折率物質が、金属カルコゲニド、金属酸化物、金属亜酸化物および金属硫化物、金属オキシハライド、金属窒化物、金属炭化物、ならびにそれらの混合物、からなる群より選択される、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の高屈折率物質が、二酸化チタン、酸化鉄、酸化クロム、酸化銅、酸化亜鉛、酸化スズ、酸化バナジウム、酸化コバルト、酸化ニッケル、酸化アンチモン、酸化鉛、酸化銀、酸化モリブデン、酸化タングステン、酸化ジルコニウム、亜酸化物、およびそれらの混合物、からなる金属酸化物の群より選択される、請求項12に記載の効果顔料。
- 酸化スズおよび/または酸化アルミニウムが、前記ガラスフレークとそれに続く高屈折率物質の層との間にコーティングされている、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記高屈折率物質が、硫化チタン、硫化鉄、硫化クロム、硫化銅、硫化亜鉛、硫化スズ、硫化バナジウム、硫化コバルト、硫化アンチモン、硫化鉛、硫化銀、硫化モリブデン、硫化タングステン、硫化ジルコニウム、亜硫化物、およびそれらの混合物、からなる金属硫化物の群より選択される、請求項12に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記少なくとも1層の低屈折率物質が、低屈折率金属酸化物である、請求項11に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラスフレークが、1層または複数層の、TiO2、Fe2O3、およびそれらの混合物からなる群より選択される金属酸化物を用いてコーティングされている、請求項1 〜16のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 高屈折率物質が、ルチル変態の形態の二酸化チタンである、請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記半透明の金属質物質が、アルミニウム、クロム、チタン、銅、銀、金、白金、モリブデン、鉄、スズ、亜鉛、タンタル、その混合物および合金、からなる群の金属より選択される、請求項1〜18のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 前記ガラスフレークの平均厚みが、0.05〜10μmの間の範囲にある、請求項1〜 19のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料。
- 請求項1〜20のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料を製造する方法であって、
(a)ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、以下の組成:
65〜75重量%の酸化ケイ素
2〜9重量%の酸化アルミニウム
0.0〜5重量%の酸化カルシウム
5〜12重量%の酸化ナトリウム
8〜15重量%の酸化ホウ素
0.1〜5重量%の酸化チタン
0.0〜5重量%の酸化ジルコニウム
を有するガラスフレークを、少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の高屈折率物質(前記物質は少なくとも1.8の屈折率を有する)、および/または少なくとも1層の少なくとも1種の半透明の金属質物質を用いて、コーティングする工程
(b)場合によっては、工程(a)により得られた前記層化されたガラスフレークをか焼する工程、
を含む方法。 - 前記ガラスフレークが、湿式化学的コーティング法、物理蒸着法、化学蒸着法または無電解めっき法によって、少なくとも1層の高屈折率物質および/または金属質物質を用いてコーティングされる、請求項21に記載の方法。
- プラスチック、コーティング、粉体コーティング、塗料、インキ、印刷インキ、ガラス、セラミック、農業用フォイル、化粧料、刺青配合物、および食品における、請求項1〜20のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料の使用。
- ガラスフレークの重量を基準にして、以下の化合物:
65〜75重量%の酸化ケイ素
2〜9重量%の酸化アルミニウム
0.0〜5重量%の酸化カルシウム
5〜12重量%の酸化ナトリウム
8〜15重量%の酸化ホウ素
0.1〜5重量%の酸化チタン
0.0〜5重量%の酸化ジルコニウム
を含むガラスの、請求項1〜20のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料のための基材としての使用。 - 請求項1〜20のいずれか1項に記載の効果顔料を含む配合物および調合物。
- 前記配合物が、さらに少なくとも1種のバインダー、および少なくとも1種の溶媒、たとえば水および/または(1種または複数の)有機溶媒、バインダーおよび水および/または(1種または複数の)有機溶媒を含むコーティング配合物である、請求項25に記載の配合物。
- コーティング配合物が自動車用コーティング配合物である、請求項26に記載の配合物。
- 酸化ケイ素がSiO 2 、酸化アルミニウムがAl 2 O 3 、酸化カルシウムがCaO、酸 化ナトリウムがNa 2 O、酸化ホウ素がB 2 O 3 、酸化チタンがTiO 2 、酸化ジルコニ ウムがZrO 2 である、請求項1に記載の効果顔料。
- 低屈折率金属酸化物が、シリカ、シリカ水和物、酸化水酸化ケイ素、酸化水酸化ケイ素 水和物、アルミナ、アルミナ水和物、酸化水酸化アルミニウム、酸化水酸化アルミニウム 水和物、およびそれらの混合物、からなる群より選択される、請求項16に記載の効果顔 料。
- 前記ガラスフレークの平均厚みが、100nm〜1000nmの間の範囲にある、請求 項20に記載の効果顔料。
