Description
図1〜図14を参照して、本発明に基づく実施の形態1における表示パネルの製造方法について説明する。本実施の形態における表示パネルの製造方法は、表示層を挟み込むように第1の基板と第2の基板とを貼り合せて貼合せ基板とする基板貼合せ工程と、前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板のうち少なくとも一方の表面に樹脂層を形成する樹脂塗布工程と、前記樹脂層を有する基板の表面に偏光板を貼り付ける偏光板貼付工程と、前記貼合せ基板を複数の表示パネルの形状に分割する分割工程とを含む。ここでは、表示パネルの一例として液晶表示パネルを対象としているので、液晶表示パネルの製造方法について説明する。
図17、図18を参照して、本発明に基づく実施の形態2における表示パネルについて説明する。ここでは表示パネルの一例として、図17に示す液晶表示パネル150について説明する。液晶表示パネル150は実施の形態1で図14に示したように、大判の貼合せ基板を分割して得たものである。ガラス基板101i,102iはそれぞれ大判のガラス基板101,102(図7など参照)が分断されたものである。液晶表示パネル150は、図17に示すように、一方の端部においてFPC108を接続するための端子部109として、一方の基板が他方の基板より長く延びている構成となっていることが好ましい。この液晶表示パネル150の左端部の拡大断面図を図18に示す。
Claims (1)
- 表示層を挟み込むように第1の基板と第2の基板とを貼り合せて貼合せ基板とする基板貼合せ工程と、
前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板のうち少なくとも一方の表面に樹脂層を形成する樹脂塗布工程と、
前記樹脂層を有する基板の表面に偏光板を貼り付ける偏光板貼付工程と、
前記貼合せ基板を複数の表示パネルの形状に分割する分割工程とを含み、
前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板のうち少なくとも一方において、部分的に前記偏光板を樹脂層ごと除去することによって基板表面を露出させた後、前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板を分割することによって行なう、表示パネルの製造方法。
