(式1においてn、θはそれぞれ基板の屈折率、光の入射角を意味する。)
偏光度=((Tp−Ts)/(Tp+Ts))0.5 ・・・式2
Δn=f・Δn0・・・式3
(ここで、Δnは配向複屈折率、Δn0は固有複屈折率、fは配向分布関数を意味する。)
光の利用効率=Tp×(Rs+Rp)・・・式4
(式4において、Rs、RpはそれぞれS偏光、P偏光の反射率である。)
以下のような手順で延伸によりPETフィルムに面内複屈折をもたせ、x⊥配置でアルミ細線を並べた。
実施例1と同様の方法で面内複屈折をもたせたPETフィルムに、フィルムの延伸方向と直交する方向にアルミワイヤを配列させ(x||配置)、偏光度を測定したところ、405nm、635nmにおける偏光度はそれぞれ94.0%、99.1%であり、実施例1に比較して偏光分離性能が劣っていた。
Claims (3)
- 複屈折を有す透明な樹脂基板上に、直線状金属細線が、互いに平行に、同じ間隔をおいて配置されているワイヤグリッド型偏光子において、該基板面内で屈折率が最も低くなる方向と、金属細線の長手方向が直交することを特徴とするワイヤグリッド型偏光子。
- 複屈折を有す透明な樹脂基板上に、直線状金属細線が、互いに平行に、同じ間隔をおいて配置されているワイヤグリッド型偏光子において、該基板が1/2波長板であり、該基板面内で屈折率が最も低くなる方向と、金属細線の長手方向が45°の傾きで交差していることを特徴とするワイヤグリッド型偏光子。
- 透明な樹脂基板の複屈折が延伸により導入されることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のワイヤグリッド型偏光子。
