Description
銀と助触媒を沈着させる前に担体に繰返し行われる洗浄と焼成のサイクルにより、触媒の安定性が驚くほど改良されることが、今や見出された。この方法は、「水−熱担体処理(aqua−thermal carrier treatment)」と呼ばれる。水−熱担体処理が用いられた時、得られた触媒は、無処理の担体をそのまま用いて製造された対応する触媒に比べて、30倍に達する選択性の安定性の向上を示した。一方、水−熱担体処理に特有の焼成と洗浄のサイクルを欠いた、従来技術により提供される担体洗浄だけでは、触媒安定性が約3倍向上しただけであった。

本発明によれば、担体は、銀および助触媒成分を沈着させる前に、水−熱処理される。
担体はSaint−Gobain NorPro Corp.により提供された。担体の性質は表1に記載されている。これらの担体を、そのまま、あるいは以下に記載される様々な前処理の後に使用した。
担体Aを、0.10MのNH4F溶液に撹拌しながら20時間浸漬した。その後、溶液のデカンテーションを行い、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いした。次に、担体を再び0.10MのNH4F溶液で6時間処理した。溶液のデカンテーションをした後、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いし、150℃で乾燥し、次に、700℃で6時間焼成した。焼成の後、担体を再び0.10MのNH4F溶液で20時間処理し、次に、すすぎ洗いをして150℃で乾燥した。この手順は、本発明による水−熱処理の、洗浄−焼成−洗浄という一連の処理を表す。
担体A−1を700℃で6時間焼成した。次に、焼成した担体を、0.10MのNH4F溶液に撹拌しながら20時間浸漬した。その後、溶液のデカンテーションを行い、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いし、最後に150℃で乾燥した。これは、本発明による、洗浄−焼成−洗浄−焼成−洗浄という一連の水−熱処理を表す。
担体Aを、0.10MのNH4F溶液に撹拌しながら2時間浸漬した。その後、溶液のデカンテーションを行い、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いし、150℃で乾燥し、次に、350℃で6時間焼成した。このサイクルを繰り返し、担体を3回焼成した。しかし、4回目で最後の0.10MのNH4F洗浄の後には、担体を150℃で乾燥しただけであった。これは、本発明による、洗浄−焼成−洗浄−焼成−洗浄−焼成−洗浄という一連の水−熱担体処理を表す。
担体Aを、0.10MのNH4F溶液に撹拌しながら20時間浸漬した。その後、溶液のデカンテーションを行い、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いした。次に、担体を再び0.10MのNH4Fで6時間処理した。溶液のデカンテーションの後、担体を脱イオン水で十分にすすぎ洗いし、150℃で乾燥し、次に、350℃で6時間焼成した。この洗浄−焼成の一連の処理は、洗浄−焼成と再度の洗浄という、本発明の水−熱担体処理に特有の手順を組み入れていない。
銀溶液の調製
844gの高純度酸化銀(Ames Goldsmith Corp.)を、約2,500gの脱イオン水中442gのシュウ酸二水和物(ACS認証試薬、Fisher)溶液に、撹拌しながら加えた。混合により、水和したシュウ酸銀塩の沈殿が生成した。撹拌を0.5時間続けた。次に、沈殿をフィルタで集めて、脱イオン水で洗浄した。分析により、沈殿は48.0wt%の銀を含んでいることが示された。
実施例1
150gの担体A−1をフラスコに入れ、含浸の前に約0.1torrまで減圧にした。183.6gの前記の銀溶液に、次の水溶液を加えた:0.972gの19.4wt%CsOH、0.327gの18.3wt%NH4HSO4、および0.732gの6.0wt%NH4Cl。十分に混合した後、減圧にしたフラスコに、約0.1torrの圧力を保ったままで、助触媒を添加した銀溶液を吸引させて担体を被覆した。約10分後に、減圧を解除し常圧に戻し、担体細孔への溶液の完全な侵入を速めた。次に、余分な含浸溶液を流し出して、含浸後の担体から除いた。
実施例2〜5
実施例2〜5では、触媒中の様々なセシウム濃度について評価した。これらの触媒は、担体A−1への含浸で、CsOHおよびNH4HSO4溶液の量を変えたこと以外は、実施例1の手順に従って調製された。最終の組成は表2に列挙されている。触媒の試験結果は、実施例1と同様にして得られ、やはり表に含まれている。高い選択性と優れた安定性が、550ppmのセシウムレベルで得られた。
担体A−1の代わりに担体A−2を用いたこと以外は、実施例1の手順に従って触媒を調製した。触媒は最終的に、11.5%のAg、530ppmのCsおよび40ppmのSを含んでいることが判った。このCsの濃度は、この担体に最適であるように別に求められた。
実施例7
担体A−1の代わりに担体A−3を用いたこと以外は、実施例1の手順に従って触媒を調製した。触媒は最終的に、11.7wt%のAg、550ppmのCsおよび45ppmのSを含んでいることが判った。このCsの濃度は、この担体に最適であるように別に求められた。
実施例8(比較)
担体A−1の代わりに担体Aをそのまま用いたこと以外は、実施例1の手順に従った。触媒は最終的に、12.0wt%のAg、550ppmのCsおよび45ppmのSを含んでいることが判った。このCsの濃度は、この担体に最適であるように別に求められた。
実施例9〜13(比較)
実施例1の手順に従って、担体A−4に銀溶液と助触媒を含浸させて、表3に示す組成とした。実施例1の方法に従う触媒試験のデータもまた、表に含める。
Claims (10)
- アルミナ担体上に担持した銀を含むエチレンオキサイド製造用触媒の製造方法において、銀を沈着させる前に前記担体に水−熱処理を行い、前記水−熱処理が、200℃を超える温度での担体焼成を間に有する少なくとも2回の担体洗浄を含み、前記担体洗浄が、フッ化アンモニウム水溶液による洗浄を含む方法。
- 前記担体焼成が、前記担体を300から1000℃で焼成する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記水−熱処理が、200℃を超える温度での担体焼成を間に有する少なくとも2回の担体洗浄を含み、各担体洗浄が1から5回の洗浄を繰り返す洗浄サイクルを含む請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記水−熱処理が2から5回の前記担体洗浄を含み、該担体洗浄の間に1から4回の前記担体焼成を行う請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記担体焼成が少なくとも0.5時間継続される請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記担体焼成が空気、または、酸素を含む他の気体雰囲気で実施される請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記担体焼成が本質的に酸素を含まない気体雰囲気で実施される請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記担体が、前記水−熱処理の後、50〜1000℃に加熱される請求項1から7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記水−熱処理が、本質的に不純物を含まない水での担体洗浄を含む請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記フッ化アンモニウム水溶液のフッ化アンモニウムのモル濃度が0.0001と5.0の間である請求項1から9のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
