本発明は固定金具を有する電気コネクタに関する。

この種の電気コネクタとしては、特開平9−139242に開示されているものが知られている。

この公知のコネクタは、添付図面の図9に見られるように、ハウジング50に端子51が複数植設されており、該端子51はハウジングの底部位置で側方に向け屈曲され延出する接続部51Aを有している。又、ハウジング50の長手方向端部近傍には、強度を有する固定金具52が取り付けられている。この固定金具52も、上記ハウジングの底部位置で側方に延出する脚部52Aを有している。かかる固定金具52は、図の上方に示されているように複雑な形状の取付部53を有しており、この取付部がハウジングの対応溝内に圧入されてハウジング50により保持される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明に係る電気コネクタは、ハウジングに複数の端子と複数の固定金具が保持されていて、一端側に接触部を有する端子の端側が接続部として、そして一端側にハウジングへの埋没部を有する固定金具の端側が固定用の脚部としてそれぞれハウジング外に延出して接続対象の取付面上に位置するようになっている。

以下、添付図面の図1ないし図8にもとづき、本発明の実施の形態を説明する。

図1のコネクタ1は、略直方体の外形をなし、絶縁材のハウジング2により複数の端子3そして固定金具4が保持されている。ハウジング2は図1(A),(B)に見られるように横長に形成され、その両側にて長手方向に端子3そして固定金具4が等間隔に配列されている。該固定金具4はこの配列方向の両端にて二つづつ設けられている。

上記受入部5の長手方向に延びる対向内縁に沿って端子3そしてその両端側に固定金具4が位置している。該端子3及び固定金具4は、同一形状・寸法をなしていて、同一の金属板から同時に、同一金型で作られている。例えば、図1のものにあっては、図2に見られるように、金属板を打ち抜いて帯状のキャリアA1から定間隔pで櫛歯状に延出する一連の細条片A2を有する二点鎖線で示される部材を形成し、これを実線のごとく曲げ加工して得られる。これらの細条片A2が端子としてそして固定金具として用いられる。この曲げ加工は、これら細条片A2がハウジングに保持される前になされる。キャリアA1は、ハウジングに保持される前に切り離されることも、あるいは上記保持後に切り離されることもある。

このように、端子3と固定金具4は同一形状であるので、ここでは、その形状に関し、端子3について説明する。端子3は、図3(A)に見られるように、略L字状に屈曲されていて一端側に直状の接触部3Aそして他端側に直状の接続部3Bを有している。接触部3Aは上記ハウジングの受入部5の内方に向いて該受入部の面と同一面もしくは若干突出しており、上端部は略半円状に湾曲して導入部3Cを形成している。この導入部3Cは、図1(A)そして図2からも判るように、他部よりも幅広になっている。接続部3Bは、中間部3Dから若干クランク状に屈曲された他端側に水平に延出し、ハウジング2の底面2Aとほぼ同一レベルに位置しており、ハウジングの底面2Aが回路基板上に配されたときに該回路基板の対応固定部の面に接する位置にある。かかる端子3と同一形状の固定金具4は、図3(B)に見られるように、上記端子3の接続部3Bに対応する部分が固定用の脚部4Bとなり、端子3の接続部3Bと固定金具4の脚部4Bとは回路基板に対する平坦度が一致する(同一平面上に位置するようになる)。

本実施形態にあっては、図2のごとく上記端子3及び固定金具4が曲げ加工を受けた形状でキャリアA1につながっている状態で、モールド成形金型(図示せず)に配置されてハウジング2と一体モールド成形されて該ハウジング2により保持され、しかる後に上記キャリアA1が切り離されて図1及び図3のごとくの形態となる。上記モールド成形後、端子3の接触部3Aは、既述のごとく、受入部5の内面と同一面もしくは若干突出して位置し(図3(A)参照)、固定金具4は中間部から上方の部分(端子3の中間部から導入部3Cに至る部分に相当する部分)が端子配列方向にてハウジング2の両端の壁部内に埋没されて、ハウジング2により堅固に保持される(図3(B))参照)。

一方、相手コネクタ10は図4に見られるように、ハウジング11に端子12が植設されている。この形態にあっては、端子12は図の紙面に平行な金属板を図示の形に打ち抜いて得られており、弾性を有するC形状の接触部12A、係止突起を有する係止12B、水平にハウジング11外に延出する脚部12Cを有している。ハウジング11は、上記のコネクタ1の端子3の配列位置に対応した位置にスリット13が形成されていて、上記端子12は図4において上方からこのスリット13内に挿着される。そして係止部12Bがスリットへの圧入時に係止突起のハウジングへの係止により所定位置からの抜けを防止する。

使用に際しては、本発明のコネクタ1について端子3の接続部3Bそして固定金具4の脚部4Bを回路基板の対応回路部そして固定部へそれぞれ半田接続し、相手コネクタ10についても端子12の接続部12Cを回路基板の対応回路部へ半田接続する。かくして、本発明のコネクタは、数多い端子の接続部3Bでの半田によっても回路基板上への固定力を得るが、部分4A,4C,4Dにてハウジングにより強固に保持されている固定金具4の脚部4Bでの半田により大部分の固定力を確保できる。かかる両コネクタ1,10の嵌合時の端子の接触部3,12A同士の弾性接触により両回路基板は電気的に接続される。

【発明の効果】
本発明は、以上のごとく、固定金具を端子と同一形状とし該固定金具の中間部から一端側への部分の埋没部を、端子配列方向たるコネクタの長手方向で、受入部の両端を形成するハウジングの端壁部に埋没するようにしてハウジングによりしっかりと保持することとしたので、コネクタを構成する部品の種類が減り、固定金具と端子とを同時に同一金型で成形そして組込みができるようになり、コネクタのコスト低下を図ることができる。又、固定金具と端子とが同時に同様に組込まれるので、両者を近接配置して配列することができ、配列方向でのコネクタの小型化を可能とする。又、固定金具と端子とは、同一形状に形成されているので回路基板に対する平坦度が一致し、回路基板への確実な実装が得られる。
