Description
本発明は、キーパッド、およびキーパッドとキーボード用のキースイッチに関する。
電子製品の小型化は、技術発展の重要な方向性の一つである。製品群が競争力で優位性を発揮して成功するか否かは、これまで以上に機能的に優れ、かつ携帯に適した製品を企業が首尾よく提供できる能力と大いに関わっている。技術の発展に伴い、電子回路を人間の尺度に比べてはるかに小型化することが従来に増して可能となっており、その結果インターフェース(例:画面、キーパッド、カーソル、制御装置)だけが携帯用製品の大きさを決める要因となっている。従って、入力装置(例えばキーパッド)の人間工学的な品質と大きさが、製品が普及して成功するために益々重要になっている。
本発明の一態様に従い、起動された際に各々が対応する文字出力を与える高層キー領域の配列と、高層キー領域の間に分散配置されていて、少なくとも1個の隣接する高層キーの起動を含む動作アルゴリズムに少なくとも部分的に基づいて文字出力を与えるキー領域の配列と、の両方を含むキー領域のマトリクスを有するキーパッドに対する改良を提供する。当該改良は、分散配置キー領域(interspersed key region)の下方に配置された、対応する、かつ独立に起動可能なキースイッチにより特徴付けられ、動作アルゴリズムもまた当該分散配置キー領域の下方にある関連スイッチの起動を含む。
図1に、組み合わせキー領域22(図3、10も参照のこと)の間に分散配置された独立キー領域11の配列を有するIACKキーパッドの独立キー11の下側で、駆動ライン24(垂直に示す)と検知ライン26(水平に示す)の交差部位の1箇所に配置された、2本のライン間を一時的に接続する、金属またはプラスチック製の従来型スナップ・ドーム12(図3)を収容するスイッチ21を示す。スナップ・ドーム12(好適には金属製)の底部は、その上方で駆動ライン24と電気的に接触しているプリント導電ベース29上に配置されていて、スイッチ21の中心は右側で検知ライン26と電気的に連続している。その結果、関連付けられたスナップ・ドーム12を起動することは、目的とする組み合わせキー22の右上側に配置された独立キー11の下のスイッチ起動することと電気的に同等になる。また、駆動ライン24の下方でこれと電気的に連続している1個の補助接点20、および検知ライン26の左側でこれと電気的に連続している1個の補助接点20を示す。テープ層がスナップ・ドーム12を覆うことにより、補助導体18(図3)への接触を防ぎ、更に補助接点20に対応するカットアウトを備えているため補助導体とPCBとの接触を可能にする。その結果、関連付けられたスナップ・ドーム12を起動することは、目的とする組み合わせキー22の左下側に配置された独立キー11の下側のスイッチを起動することと電気的に同等になる。(組み合わせキー22を挟んで対角位置に配置された)これら2個の独立キー11を同時に起動することは、中央部の組み合わせキーを起動する意図をコントローラに対して通知する役割を果たす。
Claims (25)
- キー領域のマトリクスを備えたキーパッドであって、
各々が起動時に対応する文字出力を提供する高層キー領域(11)の配列と、
前記高層キー領域の間に分散配置されていて、少なくとも1個の隣接する高層キー領域の起動を含む動作アルゴリズムに基づいて文字出力を提供するキー領域(22)との両方を含み、
前記キーパッドが、前記分散配置キー領域の下方に配置された、対応する、独立して起動可能なキースイッチ(21)を含み、前記動作アルゴリズムはまた前記分散配置キー領域の下方にある、関連付けられたスイッチの起動を含み、
前記分散配置キー領域は優位キーのクラスに割り当てられ、前記高層キー領域は二次キーのクラスに割り当てられており、
前記動作アルゴリズムが、分散配置キー領域(22)の下方に配置されたスイッチ(21)および高層キー領域(11)の下方に配置された任意のスイッチ(21)を含む組み合わせスイッチの起動の検知に応答して、対応するキーのクラスを参照し、検知された優位キーの起動を優先して、検知された二次キーの起動を放棄し、前記分散配置キー領域に対応する出力を生成する、キーパッド。 - 隣接する高層キー領域(11)の中心からの距離が、成人の指の幅の約半分より狭い、請求項1に記載のキーパッド。
- 各高層キー領域および各分散配置キー領域の下方に配置された、対応する触覚フィードバック要素を含む、請求項1または2に記載のキーパッド。
- 高層キー領域(11)の下方に配置された任意のスイッチ(21)および分散配置キー領域(22)の下方に配置されたスイッチを含む組み合わせスイッチの起動の検知に応答して、前記動作アルゴリズムが前記分散配置キー領域(22)に対応する出力を生成する、請求項3に記載のキーパッド。
- 分散配置キー領域(22)の下方に配置された各スイッチ(21)が、別の分散配置されたキー領域(22)の下方に配置されたスイッチ(21)、および高層キー領域(11)の下方に配置されたスイッチ(21)に直接接続されている、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記分散配置キー領域(22)が、凸型である露出面を有する、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記分散配置キー領域(22)が、実質的に平坦な露出面を有する、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記高層キー領域(11)の各々が、上面を規定する高層リッジ(142)を含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記分散配置キー領域(22)の各々が、複数の高層キー領域(11)と直に隣接する、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 高層キー領域(11)の下方に配置された少なくともいくつかのスイッチ(21)の各々を、前記分散配置キー領域(22)の対応する1個の下方に配置されたスイッチ(21)に電気的に接続させるトレースを有するプリント回路基板(23)を含む、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- スイッチ接点を形成すべく、前記分散配置キー領域(22)の各々の下側へ伸張する4本の電気トレース伸張部(50)を有するプリント回路基板(23)を含む、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 各分散配置キー領域の下のトレース伸長部(50)のうち2個が接触ドーム(12)に接続し、他の2個のトレース伸長部が、当該分散配置キー領域(22)が起動された際に一時的に電気的に接触する露出トレースに接続する、請求項11に記載のキーパッド。
- 分散配置キー領域(22)の下方に配置された各スイッチ(21)が、金属スナップ・ドーム(12)の内面の不連続箇所(214)を接触するプリント回路基板(23)の電気トレースにより起動される、請求項1〜12のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記スナップ・ドーム面の不連続箇所(214)により接触されたトレースが、前記スナップ・ドームの下方にある円形の接触領域(230)の周囲に間隔を空けて配置された3個の離散的な接点(16)を形成する、請求項13に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記不連続箇所(214)が、前記スナップ・ドーム(12)の下で中心を合わせて配置されていて、直径が前記スナップ・ドーム全体の直径の約3分の1である、請求項13に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記分散配置キー領域(22)の下方に配置された前記スイッチ(21)の各々が、触覚フィードバック要素(12)およびカーボン環を含む、請求項1〜15のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記触覚フィードバック要素が電気的に受動的である、請求項16に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記分散配置キー領域の下方に配置されたスイッチ(21)の各々が3個の信号トレースに接続されていて、前記マトリクスの一方の側から前記スイッチへ単一のアクセスを、また前記マトリクスの他方の側から2個のアクセス点を形成する、請求項16に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記高層(11)または分散配置された(22)キー領域のいずれかが、キー起動の間に湾曲する、成形プラスチック・キーマット(40)の各々の領域である、請求項1〜18のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記成形プラスチック・キーマット(40)の各々の領域ではないキー領域が、前記キーマット内で間隔を空けて配置された各々の孔を通して露出している、請求項19に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記キー領域が、キースイッチの配列の上方に引き伸ばされた状態で保持されたシート(41)に固定されたキーの上面である、請求項1〜20のいずれか一項に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記引き伸ばされたシート(41)が、エラストマー樹脂のシートを含む、請求項21に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記エラストマーシート(41)が、少なくとも一方向へ、少なくとも20パーセント引き伸ばされた状態で保持されている、請求項22に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記キーマットが、弾性的に膨張可能な領域(47)を備えるように成形されたプラスチック・シートを含む、請求項21に記載のキーパッド。
- 前記弾性的に膨張可能な領域が、前記シートの主平面から伸長するプリーツを含む、請求項24に記載のキーパッド。
