【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記従来構造では、中間枠2の側面で前面枠8と後面枠9が肉厚方向に重なる。このような重なり部分の厚さT1は液晶表示装置1を小型化する上での障害となる。最近では、表示装置の画面周囲の部分を極力小さくする、いわゆる「狭額縁化」が進められており、例え金属板の肉厚にすぎない僅かな厚みであっても、減らせるものは減らしたい。本発明はこのような要請に応え、中間枠の側面で前面枠と後面枠とが肉厚方向に重なり合うことを排除できる表示装置の構造を提案するものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、液晶表示装置を例にとり、本発明の一実施形態を図1から図4までの図に基づき説明する。なお、図5の従来構造と共通する構成要素にはそれと同じ符号を付し、説明は略す。

本発明の特徴とするところは、前面枠8及び後面枠9の構造と、それらの中間枠2への取付構造にある。すなわち、液晶表示装置1の少なくとも1辺において、前面枠8は中間枠2の側面に接する係合片20を有し、後面枠9も、同じく中間枠2の側面に接する係合片30を有する。係合片20、30の配置状況は図1及び図2に示す通りであるが、係合片20は計2個、間隔を明けて配置されており、係合片30は1個の係合片20を2個の係合片30で挟むように計4個設けられている。係合片20と係合片30の配置に着目すると、これは互い違いに並ぶ交互配置となっている。この実施形態では係合片20と係合片30はほぼ隙間なく配置されているが、これは必須要件ではない。間隔が空いていてもかまわない。また、係合片30の数が係合片20の数の2倍となっているが、この比率も自由に設定できる。

本発明の構成によれば、前面枠の係合片と後面枠の係合片は互いに肉厚方向に重なり合うことなく各自が中間枠に弾性係合するから、中間枠の側面は前面枠または後面枠のいずれか一方の肉厚だけをもって覆われることになり、表示装置の額縁部分の幅を狭くすることができ、機器に対する表示面の面積比率を増大できる。また前面枠側係合片と後面枠側係合片を交互配置としたから、係合片の枠本体からの突出長さを、他方の枠の係合片の干渉を受けることなく決定することができ、中間枠の側面という、これまた極力薄型化が求められる部位にあって、凹凸係合を無理なく構成できる。
