【発明の属する技術分野】この発明は、紙幣、有価証券
等の紙葉類の真偽判定方法に関する。

【従来の技術】紙幣の真偽判定方法として、検査対象紙
幣を走査させながら、所定位置に配された磁気センサ、
光センサ等の特徴量検出用センサによって、検査対象紙
幣の特徴量をその走査方向にわたってサンプリングし、
得られたサンプリングデータと予め作成した基準データ
とを比較することにより、検査対象紙幣の真偽判定を行
う方法が知られている。
【0003】しかしながら、米ドルのように品質の低い
紙幣では、印刷ずれによって、検査対象紙幣印刷部にお
けるセンサによる特徴量検出位置がずれてしまう。特
に、検査対象紙幣の走査方向と直交する方向に印刷ずれ
がある場合には、印刷ずれのない紙幣に基づいて作成さ
れた基準データを用いると、正確な真偽判定が行えなく
なるという問題がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】この発明は、検査対象
の紙葉類にその走査方向と直交する方向に印刷ずれがあ
る場合にも、正確な真偽判定が行えるようになる紙葉類
の真偽判定方法を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】この発明による紙葉類の
真偽判定方法は、紙葉類の走査方向に直交する方向の印
刷ずれ量に応じた複数の基準データを作成しておき、検
査対象の紙葉類を走査させながら、所定位置に設けられ
た特徴量検出用センサによって特徴量を検出することに
より特徴量データを作成するとともに、検査対象の所定
部分の画像をイメージセンサによって取込み、イメージ
センサによって取込まれた画像に基づいて、検査対象の
紙葉類の走査方向に直交する方向の印刷ずれ量を算出
し、算出された印刷ずれ量に対応した基準データと、特
徴量データとに基づいて、検査対象の紙葉類の真偽判定
を行うことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、図面を参照して、この発明
の実施の形態について説明する。
【0007】図1および図2は、検査対象紙幣、検査対
象紙幣の特徴量を読み取るためのセンサおよび検査対象
紙幣のコーナ部を撮像するCCDカメラを示している。
【0008】この例では、説明の便宜上、センサは1つ
とし、かつ検査対象紙幣の幅中央位置の特徴量を検出す
るように配置されている場合について説明する。
【0009】検査対象紙幣1は、図示しない検査装置に
投入され、矢印の方向に搬送される。検査対象紙幣1の
特徴量を読み取るためのセンサとして、たとえば、投光
器21aと受光器21bとからなる光透過型センサが設
けられている。

う。

幣1の走査方向に直交する方向の印刷ずれ量dy(図
2、図4参照)に応じた複数の基準データが予め生成さ
れている。たとえば、図4に示すような印刷ずれ量に対
する基準データは、図4に示す紙幣印刷部1a上のライ
ンLに対応する基準データとなる。

2に示すように、検査対象紙幣1のコーナ部Sの画像を
取り込むためのCCDイメージセンサ22が設けられて
いる。CCDイメージセンサ22によって取り込まれた
コーナ画像に基づいて、検査対象紙幣1の走査方向に直
交する方向の印刷ずれ量dyを測定する。そして、測定
された印刷ずれ量dyに応じた基準データを選択するよ
うにしている。

出しているが、LEDアレイを備えたラインセンサ等の

て印刷ずれ量dyを算出するようにしてもよい。
