Abstract
Description
・式Iの1種類以上の化合物と、
・任意成分として、式IIおよびIIIの化合物の群から選択する1種類以上の化合物と、
・任意成分として、式IVの1種類以上の化合物と
を含む液晶媒体に関する。
R1は、1〜7個のC原子を有するアルキル、アルコキシ、フッ素化アルキルまたはフッ素化アルコキシ、2〜7個のC原子を有するアルケニル、アルケニルオキシ、アルコキシアルキルまたはフッ素化アルケニル、好ましくはアルキルまたはアルケニルを表し、
L1は、HまたはFを表す。
R2およびR3はそれぞれ互いに独立に、1〜7個のC原子を有するアルキル、アルコキシ、フッ素化アルキルまたはフッ素化アルコキシ、2〜7個のC原子を有するアルケニル、アルケニルオキシ、アルコキシアルキルまたはフッ素化アルケニル、好ましくはアルキルまたはアルケニルを表し、
L21、L22、L31およびL32は、それぞれ互いに独立にHまたはF、好ましくはFを表し、
X2およびX3は、それぞれ互いに独立にハロゲン、1〜3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルキルまたはアルコキシ、2個または3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルケニルまたはアルケニルオキシ、好ましくはF、Cl、−OCF3または−CF3、最も好ましくはF、Clまたは−OCF3を表し、
Z3は、−CH2CH2−、−CF2CF2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−、トランス−CF=CF−、−CH2O−または単結合、好ましくは−CH2CH2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−または単結合、最も好ましくは−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−または単結合を表し、および
l、m、nおよびoは、それぞれ互いに独立に0または1であり、
ただし式Iの化合物は、除外される。
R41およびR42は、それぞれ互いに独立に式IIで上にR2に示す意味を有し、好ましくはR41はアルキルでおよびR42はアルキルもしくはアルコキシであるか、またはR41はアルケニルでおよびR42はアルキルであり、
Z41およびZ42はそれぞれ互いに独立に、およびZ41が2回存在するときは、またこれらもそれぞれ互いに独立に−CH2CH2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−、トランス−CF=CF−、−CH2O−、−CF2O−、−C≡C−または単結合を表し、好ましくは少なくとも1個のそれらは単結合であり、
pは、0、1または2、好ましくは0または1である。
R41およびR42はそれぞれ互いに独立に、1〜7個のC原子を有するアルキル、アルコキシ、フッ素化アルキルまたはフッ素化アルコキシ、2〜7個のC原子を有するアルケニル、アルケニルオキシ、アルコキシアルキルまたはフッ素化アルケニルを表し、および
L4は、HまたはFを表す。
R5は、1〜7個のC原子を有するアルキル、アルコキシ、フッ素化アルキルまたはフッ素化アルコキシ、2〜7個のC原子を有するアルケニル、アルケニルオキシ、アルコキシアルキルまたはフッ素化アルケニル、好ましくはアルキルまたはアルケニルであり、
L51およびL52はそれぞれ互いに独立に、HまたはFを表し、好ましくはL51は、Fを表し、
X5は、ハロゲン、1〜3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルキルまたはアルコキシ、2個または3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルケニルまたはアルケニルオキシ、好ましくはF、Cl、−OCF3または−CF3、最も好ましくはF、Clまたは−OCF3を表し、
Z5は、−CH2CH2−、−CF2CF2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−、トランス−CF=CF−または−CH2O−、好ましくは−CH2CH2−、−COO−またはトランス−CH=CH−、最も好ましくは−COO−または−CH2CH2−を表し、
qは、0または1である。
Z61およびZ62はそれぞれ互いに独立に、Z61が2回存在する場合はこれらも互いに独立に、−CH2CH2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−、トランス−CF=CF−、−CH2O−、−CF2O−または単結合、好ましくは少なくとも1個のそれらは単結合であり、
rは、0、1または2、好ましくは0または1である。
Vop:動作電圧、
ton:最大コントラストの90%が達成されるまでのスイッチオン後の時間、最大コントラストの10%から測定する、
toff:最大コントラストの10%が達成されるまでのスイッチオフ後の時間、最大コントラストの90%から測定する、
tsum=ton+toff。
・表AおよびBの化合物の群から選択する、7種類以上、好ましくは8種類以上の好ましくは異なる式の化合物、および/または
・表Aの化合物の群から選択する、1種類以上、より好ましくは2種類以上、好ましくは3種類以上の好ましくは異なる式の化合物、および/または
・表Bの化合物の群から選択する、3種類以上、より好ましくは4種類以上の化合物、より好ましくは5種類以上の好ましくは異なる式の化合物
を含有する。

液晶混合物は、以下の表に与える組成および特性で実現される。
Claims (15)
- 式IにおいてL1は、Hを表すことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶媒体。
- 式IIおよびIIIの化合物の群から選択する1種類以上の化合物を追加して含むことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶媒体。
R2およびR3はそれぞれ互いに独立に、1〜7個のC原子を有するアルキル、アルコキシ、フッ素化アルキルまたはフッ素化アルコキシ、2〜7個のC原子を有するアルケニル、アルケニルオキシ、アルコキシアルキルまたはフッ素化アルケニルを表し、
L21、L22、L31およびL32は、それぞれ互いに独立にHまたはFであり、
X2およびX3は、それぞれ互いに独立にハロゲン、1〜3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルキルまたはアルコキシ、2個または3個のC原子を有するハロゲン化アルケニルまたはアルケニルオキシであり、
Z3は、−CH2CH2−、−CF2CF2−、−COO−、トランス−CH=CH−、トランス−CF=CF−、−CH2O−または単結合であり、および
l、m、nおよびoは、それぞれ互いに独立に0または1であり、
ただし式Iの化合物は、除外される。) - 請求項3で与える通りの式IIの1種類以上の化合物を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体。
- 請求項3で与える通りの式IIIの1種類以上の化合物を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体。
- 媒体中の式Iの化合物の合計濃度は、1%〜20%の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体。
- 請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体を調製する方法であって、
少なくとも1種類の式Iの化合物を少なくとも1種類の更なるメソゲン化合物と混合し、1種類以上の添加剤および/または1種類以上の安定剤を追加してもよいことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体を含むことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。
- アクティブマトリクスでアドレスすることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 液晶ディスプレイにおける請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体の使用。
