Claims (10)
- 予混合燃焼(オットーサイクル)に適した内燃機関のシリンダ用のプレチャンバ装置であって、
当該プレチャンバ装置は、燃料の混合及び点火を行うための第1チャンバ、並びに、前記シリンダの第1チャンバと主燃焼チャンバとの間でのやりとりを行うための第2チャンバを有し、
前記第2チャンバの容積は前記第1チャンバの容積より実質的に小さく、
前記第1チャンバにはパイロット注入手段が供され、
前記第1チャンバは前記第2チャンバに対して実質的に対向するチャンバ上部を有し、
前記第1チャンバは実質的に楕円形状を有し、かつ前記チャンバ上部と前記第2チャンバとの間で曲面をなす壁を有し、
前記第2チャンバは前記第1チャンバに対して非対称的に設けられ、それにより、前記主燃焼チャンバから押し出され、前記第1チャンバの曲面を有する壁によって、点火されるパイロット注入手段の燃料へ向かってかつ通過する気体燃料用の前記第1チャンバ内にタンブル流が供される、
ことを特徴とするプレチャンバ装置。 - 前記第1チャンバが非対称な形状を有することで、前記第1チャンバが該第1チャンバの中心縦軸に対して前記第2チャンバの側部へわずかにずれていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記の第2チャンバ側の第1チャンバの赤道領域の曲率半径は、前記第1チャンバの対向する側の壁での曲率半径よりも小さいことを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記パイロット注入手段は第1チャンバの中心縦軸の一端に位置し、かつ前記第1チャンバの中心縦軸に対して非対称的に設けられていることを特徴とする、請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 当該装置には、別個の点火手段−好適にはグロープラグの形態をとる−がさらに供され、
前記別個の点火手段は、パイロット注入手段に対向する、第1チャンバの中心縦軸の他端に位置することを特徴とする、請求項4に記載のプレチャンバ装置。 - 前記第2チャンバには、前記主燃焼チャンバに対向する部分に多数のノズル穴が供されることを特徴とする、請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記ノズル穴が前記主燃焼チャンバに対して対称的に配置されるように、前記第2チャンバは配置されることを特徴とする、請求項6に記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記第1チャンバの容積と前記ノズル穴の全断面積との比は300mm〜800mmの間で選ばれることを特徴とする、請求項6又は7に記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記第1チャンバの中心縦軸と前記第2チャンバの中心縦軸とのなす角は10°〜50°であることを特徴とする、請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載のプレチャンバ装置。
- 前記第1チャンバの中心縦軸と中心横軸との比は0.6〜1.8となるように前記第1チャンバの寸法が決められることを特徴とする、請求項1乃至9のいずれかに記載のプレチャンバ装置。
