本発明は、例えば自動車のハーネス回路等のように多岐多様で複雑な電気回路の接続に使用されるジョイントコネクタハウジングに関するものである。

例えば、自動車のハーネス回路等に使用するジョイントコネクタは、電線を少数の母線から多数の子線に分岐・接続することができ、かつワンタッチで多数の接続端子間の接続を一挙に達成できる。

図5は従来のジョイントコネクタの防水構造の分解斜視図であり、ハウジング本体1の前方の開口部2に、ゴム製のシール部材3を介在して合成樹脂製のフロントホルダ4が嵌合されることにより、ハウジング本体1の内部は防水構造とされている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ハウジング本体11の後方における防水は、接続端子の各電線にシール部材を挿着することによりなされるが、分岐・接続作業を行うための開口部2においても、前述したようにハウジング本体11内に水が浸入しないように、大がかりな防水構造としなければならず、コストもかかる。

本発明の目的は、上述した問題点を解消し、簡便に開口部の防水をなし得るジョイントコネクタハウジングを提供することにある。

上記目的を達成するための本発明に係るジョイントコネクタハウジングは、前方に開口部を有するジョイントコネクタハウジングにおいて、ハウジング本体の前記開口部の周辺にスライド溝を形成し、該スライド溝に板体状のスライドカバーを挿着し、前記スライド溝と前記スライドカバー間を防水構造としたことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明を図1〜図4に図示の実施の形態に基づいて詳細に説明する。
図1、図2に示すように、ハウジング本体11は合成樹脂材から成る略角筒形とされ、その後部内には電線12を接続した図示しない複数の接続端子が装着されている。そして、各接続端子間には例えば短絡部材が嵌合されて、所定の回路が形成されている。

ハウジング本体11の前部の矩形状の開口部13の三辺には枠部14が設けられ、この枠部14にはスライド溝15が形成されている。また、このスライド溝15には板体状の合成樹脂製スライドカバー16が抜き挿し自在に嵌合されている。開口部13のスライド溝15が形成されていないハウジング本体11の一辺には、スライドカバー16の一辺を密閉して覆うためのホルダ17が、ヒンジ18により開閉自在に連結されている。

また、スライド溝15等のスライドカバー16の周辺部が当接するホウジング本体11、ホルダ17の部分には、防水のためのシリコンゴム19がハイブリッド成型により一体成形されている。なお、この防水機構はスライドカバー16の一面又は周辺部にシリコンゴムを一体成形することによってもよい。

そして、スライドカバー16を覆ったホルダ17は、ハウジング本体11に対してロック機構によりロックされるようになっている。なお、20はこのハウジング本体をフレームなどに係止するための係止部材である。

開口部13を利用して、ハウジング本体11内の接続端子に短絡部材を嵌合して、ハウジング本体11内において目的の回路を形成した後に、図3に示すようにスライドカバー16をスライド溝15に挿入し、更に図4に示すようにホルダ17を閉止すると、ホルダ17はロック機構によりハウジング本体11に固定され、ホルダ17は不時に開くことがなくなり、シリコンゴム19による開口部13に対する防水がなされる。

ホルダ17はハウジング本体11に対しヒンジ18により一体とされているので、ホルダ17を紛失したり、ホルダ17の閉止に際して、取り付け方にとまどうことがなくなる。

なお、必要に応じてホルダ17のロックを外して、ハウジング本体11内の回路を変更することができる。

以上説明したように本発明に係るジョイントコネクタハウジングは、スライドカバーの使用という簡便な構造によって開口部を閉止すると共に、防水構造とすることができる。
