Abstract
Description
【0001】

Although the present invention has been described with reference to a transflective liquid crystal display device as a liquid crystal display device, the present invention is not limited to this, and is applicable to a total transmission liquid crystal display device, a reflective liquid crystal display device, and the like. As a matter of course, the same effect as described above can be obtained.
[0042]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the liquid crystal display device of the present invention, the light emission for emitting the introduced light between the back surfaces of the first liquid crystal display element and the second liquid crystal display element in opposition to the first liquid crystal display element. A light guide having a light-reflecting surface on which a light-reflecting pattern comprising a plurality of grooves having a substantially V-shaped cross section for reflecting the introduced light is provided on a back surface facing the light-emitting surface; By providing a reflection sheet having an opening window in opposition to the reflection surface, it is possible to irradiate the light introduced into the light guide to the back surface of the sub liquid crystal display element, so that only one light guide is required. By using this, both the main liquid crystal display element and the sub liquid crystal display device can be irradiated with the introduced light, and the number of components such as a light emitting element and a light guide conventionally used can be greatly reduced. In addition, by reducing the number of parts, the number of assembling steps can be greatly reduced, and assembling workability can be improved. As a result, cost reduction, low power consumption, and small size and light weight can be achieved. Is obtained.
[0043]
According to another liquid crystal display device of the present invention, light having a substantially V-shaped cross section with a large depth in the thickness direction is formed on the light reflecting surface of the light guide opposed to the opening window of the reflection sheet. By providing the reflection pattern, the sub liquid crystal display element is radiated to the sub liquid crystal display element as outgoing light having a high light reflection and diffusion degree. It has an extremely excellent effect of being obtained.
[0044]
According to still another liquid crystal display device of the present invention, a plurality of grooves each having a substantially V-shaped cross section are formed on the light emitting surface of the light guide along the same direction as the traveling direction of the principal ray of the light emitting element. By providing the diffusion pattern, the amount of diffusion of the introduced light to the first liquid crystal display element is increased, so that an extremely excellent effect of obtaining a uniformly bright display screen without uneven brightness is obtained.
[0045]
According to another liquid crystal display device according to the present invention, the liquid crystal display device has a light exit surface for emitting guided light between the first liquid crystal display device and the second liquid crystal display device facing the back surface. A light guide having a substantially U-shaped cross section having a light reflection surface on which a light reflection pattern formed of a plurality of grooves having a substantially V-shaped cross section for reflecting the introduced light with respect to the light emission surface is provided on the opposed back surface. This makes it possible to set the screen dimensions of the first liquid crystal display element and the second liquid crystal display element to the same dimensions, and to reduce the light introduced from the side of the light guide to the main liquid crystal display element and the sub liquid crystal display element. Since it is possible to irradiate both of the liquid crystal display elements, a bright display screen with uniform luminance distribution and the same screen size can be obtained. Furthermore, the number of components, such as a light emitting element and a light guide, which have been conventionally used can be significantly reduced. In addition, by reducing the number of parts, the number of assembling steps can be greatly reduced, and assembling workability can be improved. As a result, cost reduction, low power consumption, and small size and light weight can be achieved. Is obtained.
