Abstract

A partire da una sequenza di valori della coppia indicata (Ci) rilevati per ciascuna combustione attesa nel motore viene generato, come combinazione di almeno due valori successivi di detta sequenza, un segnale di ciclicità (Di). Il valore di picco (PP1i) di detto segnale di ciclicità viene quindi confrontato con una soglia di confronto (Ca) scelta di preferenza proporzionale alla durata di iniezione del carburante nei cilindri. La mancata combustione viene identificata in preferenza di un esito del confronto fra il suddetto valore di picco (PP1i) di detta soglia di confronto (Ca) diverso dall'esito del confronto in presenza del regolare funzionamento del motore (M).(Figure 2 e 3).Campo dell'invenzione La presente invenzione affronta in generale il problema di rilevare le mancate combustioni ("misfire" o "misfiring") nel funzionamento di un motore a combustione interna, ad esempio nei motori a combustione interna montati a bordo di autoveicoli, quali autovetture.Col termine mancata combustione (o misfire) si indica una situazione anomala nel normale funzionamento del motore.La miscela aria-benzina immessa nel cilindro non genera la normale reazione chimica di un propulsore a scoppio , ma viene espulsa completamente o parzialmente incombusta nello scarico. Questo genera come effetto immediato una perdita istantanea di coppia del motore.La miscela incombusta arriva allo scarico dove brucia, provocando l'innalzamento della temperatura della marmitta.Nel caso di motori con marmitta catalitica, questo
