Abstract
1508025 Dyeing dry spun acrylonitrile copolymer fibres BAYER AG 22 May 1975 [1 June 1974] 22193/75 Heading D1B A continuous process for dyeing dry-spun acrylonitrile copolymers comprises passing unstretched fibres or filaments of acrylonitrile copolymer, containing at least 150 milliequivalents of acid groups per kg, under light tension through a water bath at a temperature of up to 70‹C; removing from 30-70% of the residual liquid present in the fibres or filaments by squeezing; drying under heat to a residual liquid content of at most 10%; dyeing at 20-100‹C in a dyebath for up to 60 seconds; fixing the dye; stretching the fibres or filaments to 1.5 to 2.5 times their original length at 70-90‹C and then after-treating. The acid groups are derived from copolymerised monomer preferably allyl, vinyl, styrene or methallyl sulphonic acid, 3- methacrylaminodiphenyldisulphonimide, or their alkali metal salts. The copolymer preferably also contains vinyl acetate or acrylic or methacrylic acid alkyl ester comonomers.
