1387502 Structural joints MEUBEL FABRIEK "DECO" NV 9 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 11081/72 Heading F2M An integrally formed strip for connecting together panels has two or more panel edge receiving channels extending along the whole length of the strip and each defined by first and second side walls 2 formed with opposed projections 3 and connected by a third wall 1 of length at least twice the distance between the projections and the third wall, each channel being of symmetrical cross-section and so arranged on the strip that the third side wall 1 or the projections 3 are located in the plane of symmetry of an adjacent channel, whereby panels inserted into adjacent channels are retained at right angles to one another. As described the panels 5 are provided with grooves along their margins to mate with the channels. In addition to the strip forms shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the channel B of Fig. 4, may be closed off by a wall parallel to central wall 1 to form a cavity along the length of the strip and in each case the channel A may be omitted. As regards the Fig. 2 arrangement, the limb L may be omitted also. The strip and panels may be utilized to form compartmented cupboards using hardboard or plastics panels together with further strips (Figs. 8 to 13, not shown) including one or more channels with inturned projections 3 with or without flanges extending from the side walls 2 parallel to the walls 1. Where panels are assembled edge to edge using flanged strips, such flanges may bear an adhesive layer which initially is covered by a removable protective strip (Fig. 17, not shown). [GB1387502A]
