A találmány tárgya nukleinsavfragmens, amely thanatint kódolónukleinsavszekvenciát tartalmaz. A találmány tárgya továbbá <fehérje-thanatin< fúziós fehérje, amelyben a fehérje szignálpeptid vagytranzitpeptid, a nukleinsavfragmenst tartalmazó kiméra gén, illetveklónozó vagy expressziós vektor, valamint a kiméra gén egy hatásosmennyiségét tartalmazó transzformált gazdaszervezet, előnyösen növényisejt. A találmány tárgya továbbá a növényi sejtet tartalmazó növény ésannak magvai, valamint eljárás gazdaszervezet, előnyösen növényi sejtvagy növény transzformálására, illetve rezisztenssé tételérebetegségekkel, előnyösen gombás megbetegedésekkel szemben.
