Abstract

Multifunctional coatings consisting of epoxide groups and organically modified silicon compounds containing nanocontainers were prepared for the protection of the hulls of boats, ships and equipment against biofouling. The nanocontainers were filled with a biocide. The release of the corrosion inhibitors from the nanocontainers is achieved by special stimuli. Methods for the preparation of the nanocontainers and coatings as well as methods for the application of the coatings on alloys are also provided.
