Abstract
The invention provides a method of separating sintered dolomite and/or sintered magnesite, discharged from a sintering furnace, into at least two fractions of differing degrees of sintering, wherein the material discharged from the furnace is screened to remove the fine-grained particles, is then sorted into lumps of different sizes, and the sorted lumps are then conveyed into a vibratable supporting screen from which they are periodically disengaged during the up and down movement of the screen, the lumps being dispersed into relatively lighter and heavier fractions by blowing a stream of gas upwardly through the screen, and the separated relatively lighter and heavier fractions are conveyed and deposited away from the screen. The material is preferably sorted into lumps of 5 to 15 mm. in size before separation, and is preferably crushed in a breaker mill before or after screening to remove fine-grained material.
