Abstract
994,728. Climbing tower cranes. SOC. NOUVELLE D'EXPLOITATION DES ETABLISSEMENTS BOILOT - PETOLAT. Aug. 7, 1963, No. 31100/63. Heading B8B. An upper section 2, Fig. 1, of a telescopic tower crane is raised within a sectional base 1 by a self-contained hydraulic jack, Fig. 3, which has its own oil tank, electric motor 10, high pressure pump 11, low pressure pump 12 and feed pipes 13, 14, 15. This arrangement allows the jack to be easily remotely controlled. To raise the section 2 from the position shown in Fig. 4 the jack is extended by the high pressure pump until the section 2 rests on abutments 16 by means of catches 18, Fig. 5. The low pressure pump now contracts the jack drawing up a cross-bar 9. The catches, Fig. 8, pivot about pins 21 as the crane is raised and when the crane descends they are tipped about pivots at their inner ends after a locking device has been manually released.
