983,704. Detecting weft depletion. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. Aug. 25,1961 [Aug. 25, 1960], No. 30812/61. Heading D1E. A photo-electric weft detector, wherein in a beam of light 14 is reflected by the pirn 18 on to a receiver 11 which is connected to an amplifier 12,has the provision of a switching device 100 which connects the receiver 11 to the amplifier 12 only when the pirn 18 is in the path of the beam 14. The switching device 100 may be operated by a permanent magnet 106 on the shuttle inducing a current in a coil 102 connected to the device 100.
