Abstract

976,025. Self-feeding brushes. N. LYTTLE, and F. F. HAWKINS. April 29, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 16738/63. Heading A4K. [Also in Division A1] A device for washing the udders of cows comprises brush means 11 supported on a stand 1 reciprocated by a motor 4 and means for supplying water to the brush means. As described clusters of bristles 12 are arranged radially on a disc 13 secured to the hollow drive shaft 10 of a vacuum motor 4, the upper end of the shaft carrying a rose 17 and the shaft being connected to a water supply by hose 16. The stand comprises telescopic members 1a, 1b which are secured in a selected position by means of a lever 6 having a projection 7a which passes through an aperture 7b in the member 1a to engage in one of a number of apertures 5 in member 1b, the lever being urged away from the stand by a leaf-spring 8.
