Abstract

964,102. Tensioning yarns in textile machines; creels. ARTHUR TUNNICLIFFE & SON Ltd. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 8, 1959], No. 34067/59. Headings D1C, DID and D1M. Yarns 1, Figs. 1 and 2 are tensioned by passing them between contacting rollers 5, 6, the roller 6 being coupled to an electro-magnetic brake 13, 14 to provide for a-uniform but variable tension as the yarns are wound on to a beam or bobbins 9. The rollers may be smooth surfaced or roughened and one may have a resilient surface. The device is applicable to spinning, knitting, warping and lace machines. The Provisional Specification describes also a creel arrangement, Fig. 3, in which the yarns 1 from superposed rows of yarn packages 18 are guided through wedge-shaped guide members 20.
