[Also in Group XXV] A clothes horse comprises two pairs of frames A, B and C, D having clothes-supporting cross bars 10 and lying in close parallel relation in the folded position of the horse, the frames of each pair being pivotally interconnected at 4, 5, 6, 7 on horizontal axes and the frames A, B being pivotally connected to the respective frames C, D on secondary axes which are inclined to the horizontal planes of the cross bars, so that, as the two pairs of frames are moved angularly apart on the secondary axes, the frames of each pair are automatically moved apart about the horizontal axes to assume the free standing position with the cross bars disposed in spaced vertical planes. The frames are bent up from tubularmetal, the upper ends of the rear frames B, D being flattened for pivotal connection to the front frames A,C. The sides 11, 12 of the frames A, B are each pivoted to the respective sides 13, 15 of the frames C, D at two spaced positions by hinges consisting of part-cylindrical plates 15, 16, riveted at 17 to the frames, and horizontal limbs which are connected by a pivot pin or, as shown, by a split ring 18, the split rings of the lower hinges being connected by a chain 19 limiting the opening angle. In a modification the horse consists of two frames hinged together about an axis of rotation inclined at an acute, or at an obtuse, angle to the horizontal plane an auxiliary supporting strut being provided if necessary.
