Abstract

934,650. Illuminating systems. ZEISS IKON A.G. Jan. 7, 1960 [Jan. 10, 1959; Jan. 24, 1959], No. 640/60. Class 97 (1). An illuminating assembly for cinematograph and slide projectors comprises a concave elliptical mirror condenser so disposed as to produce a rear image of the light source, in combination with a lens condenser so arranged as to receive the entire flux of the source reflected from said condenser and at least one plane deflecting mirror having a heat transparent coating mounted in the immediate vicinity of the lens condenser. In Fig. 3, light from a source 1 is reflected by the elliptical mirror 2 and passed through a diverging lens 13 which projects an approximately parallel beam of light on to a " cold " plane mirror 6 which deflects it through a condenser lens 14 on to the picture gate 3. Lens 14 can be replaced by two or more lenses, one of which may be placed between the lamp and mirror 6. The lens 13 may be omitted and an image of the lamp may be formed on the surface of mirror 6 or at a point between the lamp and said mirror. A field lens may also be placed at this point. Other fully reflecting plane mirrors may be placed in the light path to deflect the light.
