Abstract

923,045. Colour photographic material. AGFA A.G. July 14, 1961 [July 16, 1960], No. 25645/61. Class 98 (2). Multilayer material as for formation of cyan, magenta and yellow partial images comprises at least one assembly of two layers sensitized to the same region of the spectrum but of different sensitivity containing colourless couplers for formation of the same colour, the more sensitive of the layers producing a coloured image of lower colour density than the less sensitive layer. Increase of total sensitivity with avoidance of undue coarseness of colour grain, particularly for exposure material, results. Example 1 provides full description of formation of the red sensitive double layer, using about four times the quantity of cyan coupler in the fine grain emulsion which is cast next to the support as that for the adjacent highly sensitive emulsion, and of step-wedge exposure, processing, sensitometric and granularity measurement results. Ten further examples directed to one or other of the three double layers are generally similar but include use of different couplers for the same colour instead of different quantity. The description states that coloured couplers as of Specifications 599,377 and 698,046 may be added to the layers. Specifications 458,400, 541,589, 786,592, 818,687, 861,138 and U.S.A. Specification 2,688,538 also are referred to.
