Abstract

927,035. Receptacles for tools and like; pouches. G. R. GREEN. Oct.12, 1961 [March 18, 1961], No. 9983/61. Classes 18 and 133. Packaging means for sharp instruments and the like comprises a back piece having attached to it a first part with one or more channelled recesses wide enough to overlap the recesses of the first part, the back piece having hinge means so that the second part can be swung back to expose the ends of the packaged articles, which can then be removed. A thermoplastics sheet a is heated and shaped to form channelled recesses each consisting of a portion b and a portion c the sheet then being cut across as in Fig. 3. The part having the channels b is then attached to the lower part g of the back piece and the part with channels c to the upper part h, so that the open ends of the channelled recesses c overlap those of the channelled recesses b. The hinge f enables the part h to be folded back as in Fig. 5 to expose the upper part of the article j being packaged. In a modification the overlapping edges of b and c are beaded, the bead on c being large enough to embrace that on b for reinforcement. The package may be covered by a mask made by folding a piece of cardboard and sealing its edges after inserting the package. The mask may be ornamented, or carry advertising matter or instructions.
