Abstract

925,658. Extruding tubular nets-sheeting. PLASTIC TEXTILE ACCESSORIES Ltd. March 11, 1960 [March 31, 1959; May 6, 1959; Oct. 1, 1959], Nos. 10863/59, 15497/59 and 33329/59. Class 87(2). In apparatus for extruding tubular netting, tubular ribbed or plain sheeting, wherein relatively rotating die members 1, 2 have circularly contacting slideways 14 and the plastic material is fed from a feed chamber 3 to the dies through ducts 14a formed in the slideway 14, an annular groove 18 is provided through the slideway to act as an intermediate reservoir for the material and by reason of the relative rotation, to cause a turbulent or smearing action in the material. The lands between the ducts 14a may be greater than the width of the ducts 14a or the ducts in each member may be oppositely helically inclined to prevent " meshing " and, in the case of ribbed sheeting or net the ducts 14a may discharge into the groove 18 intermediate of the rib orifices to prevent a direct through passage for the material. The slideway 14 may be oppositely inclined to act as a thrust bearing to resist the pressure of plastic material and the orifice members may be interchangeable. The ducts may by-pass the slideway, Fig. 8 (not shown), and the rib orifices 16a may converge, with or without meeting, Figs. 3a, 3b. Specifications 836,555 and 925,657 are referred to.
