A ski training appliance comprises a base having a ski-supporting surface and a pair of skis (real or imitation) adapted for free sliding movement over the supporting surface within the bounds of restraint imposed by elastic connections extending between the skis and the base. A plate A1 has an aperture for a ring B which projects slightly above the plate and over which moves a pair of skis F limited by springs or elastic cords G attached to a lateral frame H. The ring rotates on rollers D2 guided by lateral rollers D1. The rollers may be mounted in pairs on a block D supported beneath the plate. Springs and cords E are anchored to the ring by a connector B2 and to the plate by spaced posts A2 to limit rotation of the ring. A catch plate may lock the ring. The upper edge of the ring is roughened. Hinged legs of different height support the plate. Two ski sticks are anchored adjacent the track. Alternatively the ring rotates on rollers 2 mounted at each corner of a skeletal base 3 mounted on pivots 5 on pedestals 6. The skis 10 move over the ring each being constrained by a spring 12 connected to an adjustable swing yoke 13 pivoted on the base and by a cable 11 with springs 11A. The base rocks by means such as a linkage 8, 9 connected to a motor and reduction gear unit 7. In addition, or alternatively, two motordriven universally-jointed rods may connect beneath each ski. Webs 15 on the frame provide standing space when fastening the skis. The undersides of the skis may have facings of materials with different coefficients of friction.
