Abstract
A conductor, such as a busbar, is embedded in solid thermosetting cast resin of a type which will solidify and cure without requiring mechanical pressure or forming bubbles, the conductor first being covered with a thin skin of a solid liquid impervious material to which the resin will not adhere, and which is soft and deformable at the curing temperature of the cast resin although remaining solid and liquid impervious at that temperature. The resin may be an epoxy resin and the skin may be a spiral wrapping of p.v.c. tape, the overlapping edges of which weld together at the resin curing temperature, or it may be a p.v.c. sleeve, a moulded coating of p.v.c. or a wrapping of irradiated polythene. The three busbars of a three-phase system may be embedded in a single block of resin. Specification 817,255 is referred to.
