Abstract

In Example 5 a violet foil is obtained by mixing polyvinyl chloride with dioctyl phthalate and gelatinizing the mixture while adding linear quinacridone <FORM:0900757/IV(a)/1> which has been ground in a ball mill with acetone. If in addition to the quinacridone, titanium dioxide is added, a pastel red foil is obtained.ALSO:Crude linear quinacridone pigments are conditioned by grinding with at least one part by weight of an organic solvent per part by weight of pigment in the absence of an inorganic salt, until the pigment has the desired state of fineness and the solvent is then removed to an extent such that the pigment is obtained in a pulverulent form. Solvents specified are benzene, toluene, chlorobenzene, trichlorobenzenes, nitrobenzene, carbon tetrachloride, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanols, amyl alcohols, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, diacetyl alcohol, tetrahydrofurane, dioxane, morpholine, pyridine, piperidine, diethylamine, dimethyl formamide, formic acid and acetic acid. Dispersing agents and texture-improving agents may be present during the grinding. The quinacridones used may be substituted by nitro groups, alkyl, e.g. methyl groups or halogen atoms. Examples are given.
