Abstract
909,161. Wheel assembly. ELECTROLUX Ltd. March 31, 1959 [April 1, 1958], No. 10817/59. Class 144 (1). A wheel assembly comprises a resilient annular rim member 10 having hub sections 22, 24 respectively, frictionally engaged within its central opening one on each side thereof, the hub section 24 having a central journal member 74 extending towards but spaced from the hub section 22, and a supporting axle 20 journalled within the member 74 with a spherically-surfaced enlarged end portion 38 of the axle sandwiched between, and engaging, the journal 74 and a pointed bearing boss 72 of the hub section 22 to retain the hub and rim assembly on the axle. As shown, the rim member 10 is moulded from polyethylene with an annular groove 62 extending axially from one side thereof for at least half the axial width of the body, and a dove-tail section rib 64 extending radially inwardly from its inner periphery. The hub sections 22, 24 are each formed with their outer peripheries 26, 32 shaped to engage the sides of the rib 64, the section 22 having an axial flange 28 to bush within the inner periphery of the rib 64 and the hub section 24 having an axial flange 30 frictionally engaged within the flange 28.
