Abstract
888,604. Ammunition projectiles. INSTITUTO DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTIFICAS Y TECHNICAS DES LAS FUERZAS ARMADAS. March 10, 1958, No. 7610/58. Class 9(1). A projectile is provided with a tracer charge 15 arranged to be ignited by a primer 14a which is ignited by the propellent gases when the projectile is fired. The primer charge is compressed into a stepped cavity 14 where it is retained by a brass disc 20, the forward end of charge 14a having teeth 16 which bite into the tracer 15 and the base 19 being irregularly shaped to increase the area of contact with the propellent gases. The wall of the recess 14 has an annular groove 18 into which the charge 14a extends and is so prevented from axial movement due to acceleration of the projectile.
