Abstract

886,832. Knives. WOSTENHOLM & SON Ltd., GEORGE. Dec. 9, 1959 [Dec. 17, 1958], No. 40650/58. Class 30 The blade 1 of a carving &c. knife has an uninterruptedly-bevelled cutting edge composed of serrations 2 of obtuse convex profile and each individually bevelled. Concave surfaces 5 blend smoothly with the bevelled surfaces of adjacent serrations and are formed simultaneously therewith by a form wheel having a helical form of appropriate pitch. Extensions 6 of the concavities 5 are formed by a second pass, at a different angle, of the same form wheel or by a pass of another form wheel of the same pitch. In a modification, concavities 5 and extensions 6 are provided on both surfaces of the blade the serrations 2 being in register or staggered with respect to each other between face and face.
