Abstract

868,366. Locks; double door fasteners. LEE, G. H. Sept. 8, 1959 [Sept. 9, 1958], No. 28911/58. Class 44. A lock for a telescopic sliding gate, comprises a first member 1, Fig. 2, a second member 2, Fig. 4, movable relative to the first member and adapted to be locked thereto, an opening 5 in the first member, a pin 6 carried by the second member and adapted to enter the opening 5 to effect locking, a spring 7 for urging the pin 6 into the opening 5, and key-operated means, for example a slidably mounted push rod 11 in the first member for forcing the pin 6 out of the opening 5 to effect unlocking. The member 1 has a projecting portion 3 which is adapted to enter a recess 4 in the member 2, the portion 3 having the opening 5 extending therethrough in which is disposed the rod 11, one end of the latter being adapted to be received within a recess 13 in the member 2. The rod 11 has a recess 23 therein in which lies one end 22 of the barrel 14 of a pin tumbler barrel lock operated by a key 19, the barrel 14 being prevented from moving axially in the member 1 by a wire 21 which co-operates with a groove 20 in the barrel periphery. The portion 3 of the member 1 has a bevelled end 10 and the rod 11 is bevelled at 12, so that when the portion 3 is inserted into the recess 4 in the member 2 the pin 6 and the rod 11 automatically engage the opening 5 and the recess 13, respectively, and the end 22 of the barrel 14 is cam-shaped, so that when the barrel is rotated by the key 19 to effect unlocking the pin 6 and the rod 11 are moved out of engagement with the opening 5 and the recess 13.
