Abstract
859,065. Electric battery lamps. SOC. LES PILES WONDER. Oct. 3, 1958 [Oct. 17, 1957], No. 31711/58. Class 39(2). [Also in Group XXXVI] A portable battery lamp casing is provided with means for connecting to the battery an external electric circuit comprising a jack having a pair of conducting members insulated from each other and connected to the external circuit and a guide member in the lamp casing co-acting with the jack to connect the external circuit to the battery. The jack 3, Fig. 2, consists of a blade 6 sandwiched between two insulating layers 5, 9 themselves surrounded by a conducting sheath 8 and is inserted through a hole in the side of the battery casing into a guide 13, Fig. 5, so that the blade 6 makes contact with the spring blade 15 of the battery which normally contacts the base of the bulb, the upper part 14 of the guide 13 simultaneously making contact with the sheath 8. An electric device e.g. an inspection lamp, in circuit with the blade 6 and sheath 8 is then fed from the battery under the control of the lamp switch.
