Abstract

838,466. Plate heat exchangers. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 20, 1957], No. 36100/57. Class 64(3) A plate heat exchanger of the cross flow type comprising plates 4 between which are sandwiched corrugated thin metal plates 2, 3 to provide secondary neat transfer surfaces and spacing bars 5 inserted marginally between alternate pairs of plates, is characterized by the corners of the plates and the extremities of the spacing bars being arranged to project diagonally from the exchanger to mutually overlap and each having a slot 8, 9, 10 which is frictionally engaged by a locating strip 7. Trays 11, 13 are provided at the top and bottom of the exchanger.
