Abstract

822,108. Feeding cut tobacco. KÍRBER, K. Aug. 2, 1957 [Sept. 26, 1956], No. 24537/57. Class 130. [Also in Group XXX] Elevator tracks 21 delivering via shaker conveyers 3, 4, carding rolls 7 and beater rolls 9 to corresponding pneumatic feed-pipes of individual cigarette-making machines (not shown) are separately connectible to a driving-shaft 23 by clutches 24 in their drive rolls 22. The shaft 23 may be powered through a variable-speed gear, and the conveyers 3, 4 have a common drive 13. On individual machine stoppage, the corresponding track 21 is also stopped and a corresponding one of solenoids 19 supporting the conveyers 4 at one end is de-energized to allow the respective conveyer to pivot about its other end and deliver to a conveyer 20 leading to the elevator hopper 1a. Rotary rakes 5, 6 return excess tobacco on the tracks 21 to the hopper 1a. Reference is made to stoppage of a track 21 prior to the corresponding machine by a period sufficient to allow tobacco on the respective conveyers 3, 4 to pass to the machine.
