Abstract
826,211. Testing fuel injection pumps. C. A. V. Ltd. July 28, 1958 [Aug. 15, 1957], No. 25762/57. Class 102(1). To measure the output of a fuel injection pump, the pump a is driven by a motor b which also drives a rotary switch d through a reduction gear c. The pump delivers to a conduit e where the fuel is by-passed or allowed to enter a measuring cylinder f in accordance with the position of a shutter g moved by an electromagnet h under control of a relay system i. The relay system i comprises three relays controlling switches such that on actuating the electrical system the shutter g is opened for one revolution of the rotary switch d which preferably corresponds to one hundred strokes of the pump a. Figs. 2-7 (not shown) indicate the various positions of the switches during rotation of the valve d.
