Abstract

Zirconia of at least 75% cubic crystal structure comprises up to 20%, preferably 2-10%, of one or more oxides of calcium, magnesium, beryllium, strontium, barium or cerium and may also contain as impurities oxides of silicon, titanium, iron, aluminium, potassium, sodium and boron. Preferred particle size analyses are given. The material is suitable for use as a non-sticking support for molten metals.
