Abstract

824,141. Photographic cameras. THOMPSON, W. H. G. Oct. 3, 1958, No. 22254/57. Class 98(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] A camera. includes a photocell in a tubular housing so that, on taking a self portrait, the operator may locate himself with respect to. the camera by shining a light towards it. The photocell is arranged to receive only light coming from in or near the optical axis of the camera objective and to initiate the release of the shutter. Preferably, a photovoltaic cell operates a relay to energize a battery operated electro-magnetic shutter release device and sound a buzzer. The shutter may be operated on a delayed action self-timer or a time delay relay may be used to energize the device and a separate relay be provided to operate the buzzer until the shutter has been released.
