Abstract

811,276. Blackboards. KNIGHT, F. J. March 21, 1957 [March 14, 1957], No. 8383/57. Class 146(2) A blackboard comprises an endless belt A, of material to receive writing &c. which travels over parallel top and bottom rollers B, B<SP>1</SP> tensioning means C connected to the spindle of the top roller for stretching the belt tightly between the rollers, a cleaning roller G arranged to run in contact with the belt, a motor F to drive the cleaning roller, drive means E interconnecting the spindles of the cleaning roller and bottom roller, and a clutch D for engaging or disengaging the bottom roller from its spindle X. A pin J on spindle X passes through a slot in clutch D and permits limited endwise movement of the clutch which is normally urged into the engaged position by spring K but may be disengaged by operation of pedal I. When the clutch is disengaged the belt may be moved by hand operation of knob Z. The drive means E comprises a reduction gear.. A pressure board Y is arranged behind the belt in the area where writing &c. is performed.
