Abstract
798,752. Piles. SIME, DARBY & CO., Ltd. July 23, 1956 [July 22, 1955], No. 21292/55. Class 68(2) In a reinforced concrete pile, units, as 1 and 2, have spigot and socket connections, comprising metal sleeves 3 and 5 respectively, locked by pins, spaced apart both longitudinally and radially, and extending through holes 7 in the sleeves and the surrounding concrete. The sleeves 3 and 5 are anchored, preferably by welding, to reinforcements 4 and 6 respectively. To assemble the pile, grout is poured into the socket and the spigot inserted; excess grout is forced out through the holes 7, in particular the lowest one which connects with escape holes 8. The pins are then inserted and grouted in position. Specifications 521,682 and 521,683 are referred to.
