787,020. Gear-cutting. SYKES, Ltd., W. E., and HOPKINS, J. R. Jan. 26, 1954 [Jan. 22, 1952], No. 1807/52. Class 83 (3). A machine for shaping spur or helical gear teeth on work 4 comprises two axially spaced pinion cutters 1, 2 on coaxial spindles 3, 3a, each tooth of the cutters having a cutting face 13, 16 extending only around a part of the profile of the tooth, the teeth of the respective cutters being complementary, and means for relatively rotating the spindles to adjust the size of tooth which is cut on the work.
