Abstract
785,501. Axial-flow fans. LICENCIA TALALMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT. Sept. 16, 1955 [Dec. 22, 1954; March 1, 1955], No. 26537/55. Class 110 (1). [Also in Group XXXIII] A fan has a diffuser section constructed as a double-walled hollow body, the interior of which connects the pressure side of the fan with the suction side through openings suitable for sucking off the boundary layer and formed in the inner wall of the diffuser section. In Fig. 1, the walls 2 and 4 of the diffuser form a space 5 leading to the suction side of the fan 1 at 22. An axially movable ring 6 is used to control the effective cross-section of the space 5 and control the extent of boundary layer suction. The boundary layer suction orifices are formed by slots 3, as shown, but may be circular openings arranged in a series of parallel circles (Fig. 2, not shown). One wall of the diffuser is of sheet metal which in Fig. 3 (not shown) is the inner wall, having circular perforations the outer wall then being concrete. A spinner 9 rotates with the fan 1, and also has suction orifices 10 leading to a slot 17 as shown. The width of the slits 3, or the number or size of corresponding circular openings, is decreased in the downstream direction.
