Abstract

750,464. Barrel locks. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd. Dec. 1, 1954 [Feb. 18, 1954], No. 4760/54. Class 44. In a door lock of the key-operated, rotary barrel type, a slippable coupling or like device interconnects the barrel and the associated part to be actuated. As shown, the lock barrel is formed with a spindle extension 8 on which is mounted an arm 9 through which rotation of the barrel is transmitted to a door fastening (not shown). The arm 9 is formed with a transverse notch 10 normally held in engagement with a peg 11 and the spindle 8 by a spring 12, to permit slip between the spindle 8 and the arm 9 when excessive turning effort is applied to the key of the lock.
