Abstract
742,188. Folding chairs. TAYLOR, R. Feb. 24, 1954 [Jan. 27, 1953 ; April 14, 1953], Nos. 2317/53 and 10131/53. Class 52(2). In a deck chair comprising an outer frame 1 and an inner frame 3 pivoted together at 13, spacers 15 are provided at the pivots and the struts 5 are pivoted on the inner sides of the frame 1. The struts 5 are pivoted in slots 27 along which the pivots slide when the chair is folded. The lower end of each strut has a bolt which engages one of notches 21 formed in slot 19 in the inner frame. Alternatively the upper surface of the inner frame may have notches engaged by a bar joining the bottom of the struts. The chair may have two lengths of canvas as described in Specification 708,417 and the various joints may be detachable.
