Abstract
742,065. Couching trimmed paper webs. BELOIT IRON WORKS. Feb. 4, 1953, No. 3146/53. Class 96. The edges of the pulp web W on the wirecloth 10 of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine are trimmed by jets 14, the trimmings 15 running off, e.g. for re-pulping, at the return roll 12, and the trimmed web being couched on to an upper wet press felt 16 with the aid of a roll 21 having a suction zone 24, the axial width of which is adjustable to the width of the trimmed web by a screw at each end of the roll, each screw being threaded through a boss, and carrying an arcuate bearing and sealing plate.
